The Origin of Alchemr
The words alchemy and alchemist are in fact older words than chemistry and chemist in English. Alchemists believed that they could transform lead into gold, cure diseases, etc. Their secretive experiments, usually involving heat and the mixing of liquids, led to the development of pharmacology and the rise of modern chemistry. This power to transform things for the better, real or imagined, led to figurative meanings for alchemy and alchemist.
The Origin of Alchemr
Dr. Laureen Meroueh
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Laureen Meroueh obtained her PhD and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a focus in materials science and hydrogen generation, and a minor in Business & Entrepreneurship. Laureen has over 8 years of experience in the clean energy sector. Laureen previously co-founded MetaStorage, a start-up that was bringing large scale thermal batteries to power plants. Amongst other experiences in the entrepreneurial world, Laureen interned at The Engine (venture capital fund that invests in tough tech) and was a Sandbox Innovation Fund fellow at MIT.
Dr. Meroueh leads business development at Alchemr, ensuring that Alchemr paves the way to a realized Hydrogen Economy
Dr. Behrooz Motealleh
Dr. Behrooz Motealleh earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has 8 years of experience as a polymer chemist and engineer conducting polymer synthesis, characterization, nanofabrication and application of organic/inorganic polymers and ion-containing materials. He has designed polymers for specific electrochemical applications including hydrogen fuel cell through the design and implementation of experimental methods.
Dr. Motealleh leads technology development and technology scale-up at Alchemr.
Wesley Best acquired his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. Wesley has over 1.5 years assembling, modifying, and designing components for cell electrolyzers. He has designed and integrated fluid and electrical safety systems to ensure peak cell performance as well as lab safety.
Wesley executes engineering system design and integration at Alchemr.
